Environmental Monitoring
Environmental monitoring (using dataloggers or sensors to measure various conditions within collections environments) is a key component of preservation and preventive conservation programs in cultural heritage institutions. Gathered information supports data-driven, strategic decision-making for how to best manage and maintain conditions for preservation, whether in exhibition, storage, or other applications. LPS works with organizations to develop and refine their monitoring programs for a variety of factors, including temperature and relative humidity, light, particulates and air quality, radon, and structural concerns (such as movement/shift and moisture content). Services include:
Initial design and set up: determining how many loggers you need, of what type, placement and installation, and usage.
Data management and maintenance.
Data analysis and interpretation on a project or contractual basis.
Training on the use of various hardware and analytical platforms
